July is holiday season for geeks and everyone is losing sleep over what presents will be under the San Diego Comic-Con tree at the end of the month. SDCC has grown from a small convention centered around the art and culture of comic books in 1970 to a prime testing ground and marketing destination for studios’ upcoming tentpole films and television shows. This year there is more quality programming than ever before and there aren’t many shows more suited for SDCC than Preacher, Fear the Walking Dead, and The Walking Dead.

Since the time of The Walking Dead’s debut, Rick, Daryl, Michonne, and Carl, have all become such huge icons that they are easily identifiable by just their first names. While Jesse, Tulip, Cassidy, and Arseface, are gaining steam all of their own on Preacher’s side. Well, it looks like fans will be able to get up close and personal with their favorite AMC stars.

According to a new report from Comicbook (http://comicbook.com/2016/06/30/amc-reveals-san-diego-comic-con-plans-for-the-walking-dead-preac/), cast members and producers from all three of AMC’s biggest series are headed to San Diego for Comic-Con later this month. Additionally, AMC is bringing late-night talk show Geeking Out, which will debut a sneak peak during Kevin Smith’s annual panel.

AMC has found an abundance of success adapting gritty comics in recent years. In 2010, they adapted Robert Kirkman’s quirky black and white comic, The Walking Dead, and six seasons later it is one of the biggest shows in TV history. The show pushed mature storytelling forward by blending elements of the supernatural with genuine human drama. They continued trailblazing television airwaves this past spring with the debut of Preacher, an adaptation of the controversial Vertigo Comic series. The TV show was brought to the small screen by Evan Goldberg, Seth Rogen and Sam Catlin, and it has already made an imprint in its first season.

Fans can expect to see all three of the shows’ most notable talent, both in front and behind the camera, at SDCC later this month. The series will be holding panels, with its respective stars making appearances including Andrew Lincoln, Dominic Cooper, Steven Yuen, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Seth Rogen, Robert Kirkman, and of course a whole lot more.

Part of the fun of attending San Diego Comic-Con is the opportunity to get a first look at new footage or a hint of what is soon to come. It appears that AMC’s presentation this year will not be an exception. It’s expected that The Walking Dead will reveal the first trailer for seventh season of the show. While Preacher will be having a live, on-stage reading of season one’s penultimate episode.

AMC is known for putting on a good show and for the approachability of their stars, but this year may be one of the network’s most important appearances, particularly for The Walking Dead. The show had its most polarizing season finale ever, which left its audience with a summer-long cliffhanger for the ages. Surely, a large part of AMC’s strategy is to rejuvenate its fan base, while also bringing back some of the viewers who may have become disillusioned. Will they succeed? We will find out shortly as San Diego Comic Con is just three short weeks away.

All of AMC’s panels will be held in Hall H on Friday, July 22nd. Fear the Walking Dead will hold their presentation at 12pm. The Walking Dead is scheduled to present at 1pm directly afterwards, with The Talking Dead’s Chris Hardwick hosting both Walking Dead panels. Preacher is holding their panel at 6:30pm and will hosted by Kevin Smith.
