When Teen Wolf premiered on MTV in 2011, it was an instant hit especially on social media. The loyal fan base pushed the series leads out of oblivion. For a television series based on a film that was based on an even earlier film, Teen Wolf brought its own unique flare to the supernatural teen TV genre.

The trailer for the sixth season (above) debuted at San Diego Comic Con, and shows just how dire things are going to get. Scott (Tyler Posey), Stiles (Dylan O’Brien), Lydia (Holland Roden), and the rest of Beacon Hills are in for the fight of their lives in season 6 as they faces off against The Wild Hunt. With their seventh trip to Comic-Con International in San Diego, the Teen Wolf Panel was full of surprises, including some very big news.

Fan engagement has always been a driving factor, and likely helped the series make it this far. Despite MTV’s 2015 Comic-Con announcement that Teen Wolf was getting a sixth season, this year’s Con brought news that at the coveted 100th episode mark, Teen Wolf will be celebrating the end of a six-season run. During its Comic-Con panel, the show announced that season six will be the last hurrah. In what was an emotional moment, executive producer and showrunner, Jeff Davis, spoke fondly of Teen Wolf, saying:

“Teen Wolf has been an extraordinary journey, one that captured the hearts and imaginations of fans more than we could’ve ever imagined. We’re eternally grateful for the support we’ve received over these past six years and we’re excited to take our brave fans on one last, thrilling adventure.”

The panel was comprised of Davis, Posey, Roden, Dylan Sprayberry, Cody Christian and Khylin Rhambo, with a special appearance from Ian Bohen and J.R. Bourne as The Ghost Riders/Wild Hunt. Fans have seen lots of changes through the season, not least of which is Scott McCall growing into his new identity as a werewolf and stepping up to protect those he loves. But can he saves his friends and Beacon Hills from this new threat?

It wasn’t all sad news, however, as MTV also offered new information on an upcoming series, titled Sweet/Vicious; which was described as “a provocative scripted dramedy about sexual assault, consent, and revenge on college campuses.” Starring Taylor Dearden (101 Ways to get Rejected) as Ophelia and Eliza Bennett (Strike Back, Broadchurch) as Jules, Sweet/Vicious will be a lighter vigilante story that promises “hilarious and hearthbreaking” stories that millennials can connect with. Interesting premise, to say the least; but if MTV is good at one thing, it’s knowing their audience.

Teen Wolf‘s sixth and final season premieres on MTV in November 2016, and Sweet/Vicious will premiere in November 2016 as well.
