Scott Beck and Bryan Woods, the long-time creative team who wrote A Quiet Place together, are teaming up with Sam Raimi for an original sci-fi film. Beck and Woods, now to be credited under the fused name Beck/Woods, have been writing, directing, and producing together for years. They got involved in horror projects early on and achieved a huge hit with their original screenplay for the 2018 film A Quiet Place, directed by John Krasinski.

The news of their new mystery project comes from Variety. Beck/Woods have worked with Raimi, who is most well-known for his Spider-Man trilogy, recently on his Quibi series 50 States of Fright. For their upcoming science-fiction thriller, the duo will write and direct. They will also produce alongside Raimi and Zainab Azizi for Raimi Productions, as well as Debbie Liebling. The project has been acquired by Sony in a competitive auction.

Beck and Woods say they feel they have "a responsibility to reinvest back into the ecosystem of original ideas," and praised Raimi for his ability to traverse both independent and blockbuster films with such success. Including this film, Raimi Productions has sold three movies to Sony Pictures in the last year. The most recent was the 2019 horror film Crawl. For his next directing project, Raimi is taking on Marvel's Doctor Strange sequel.

Beck/Woods' A Quiet Place was a box office smash and did very well with critics, who praised its innovative and original concept. The plot of their new sci-fi project is currently unknown. Bursting onto the scene with A Quiet Place, Beck and Woods have successfully laid the groundwork for an inventive future in film.
